Pine Prairie

Is equine thrush at all related to nail fungus (human)?

French Settlement

I dont think its realted to human fungus at all. I understand that thrush is from standing in wet mucky conditions i am not sure what causes human nail fungus however provided they were realated then persons would own green thumb trying to amuse rid of nail fungus with kopertox.

Bloomingdale

Thrush is a yeast infection, and yeast infections are fungal infections.

Stinnett

Thrush is caused by anerobic bacteria. The hoof frog and sole is caked with mud and manure so even that oxygen is divide off, providing an epitome place for anerobic bacteria to abound. The treatment for thrush - no mud - clean dry stall - pick feet outside twice a time. Treat frog with coppertox or much hydrogen peroxide and acquiesce to dry daily. It is not related to fungus - although there are fungus infections of the hoof. Human nail fungus is totally altered.

Ashland

I accomplish not accept they are related. Trush is caused by wet muddy conditions in common, where the hoof can't "breathe" it has information packed in it that doesn't come outside. This allows the trush to abound. Horses can too amuse some other skin conditions that are related to fungus, such as rainrot. I own treated trush several times, and never gotten a nail infection, though it does constitute your hands stink! Takes forever to amuse rid of the coppertox smell.
